TIP OF THE WEEK
Use an Annual Event as Key to Changing Smoke Detector Batteries
A smoke alarm is only as reliable as the batteries that operate it. To keep your family safe, be sure to change the batteries once a year. A good way to remember to change the batteries is to do so on the anniversary of an annual event. For example, make it a part of your holiday preparations and change the batteries at Thanksgiving. You might also choose a birthday, anniversary, or when you change the clocks in the fall. At the same time, change the batteries of radon and other detectors; you might also want to change bulbs in outdoor lighting so you know will have light through the dark days of winter.
